Whitesands Camping . St Davids . Pembrokeshire . Wales

Pitch up next to the sand, sea and surf.

Tariff & Terms

The main site has opened for the 2018 season.

We do not formally take bookings and cannot allocate pitches in advance.  "First-come-first-served policy".

Small site (30 tent pitches) is open from Easter school holidays through to the end of October.  Farm fields open in August: basic "farm/wild camping" but more room.

Tariff 2018 season

  • Adults:                  £8 per person per night (16 years+);  £6 per person without car or motorbike.
  • Children:               £3 per night (2-15 year old); under 2s foc.
  • Hookup:                £4 per night (only available on small site), 'first come first served', cannot be booked.
  • Dogs:                    £2 per night.
  • Awnings:              £1 per night.
  • Additional Cars:    £1 per night (first car free).
  • Payment:              Famous Pete is in Car Park Ticket Office 0900-1100 & 1400-1700.

  • No Peak Season Increases.

Sorry, we don't have pitches for caravans or motorhomes (large campervans); there are nearby sites inland that specialise in these.

If the small main site is full (apart from August), there are nearby tent sites inland, that have greater capacity and some have no booking requirements.

There are 14 electric hook-ups on the main site ("first-come-first-served").  It is not possible to book hook-ups in advance.

Electric showers are £1 for a token, obtained from Famous Pete.

We do not allow campfires (on the ground), and Chinese lanterns may not be lit or launched on site.

In the interests of other campers, dogs should be kept under close control or on a lead on the site.

To avoid damage to the grass-cutting machinery and environment: campers are requested not to remove stones from the hedges, or leave them on the fields.

Arrival time: not before 12pm mid-day.  Departure time: not later than 12pm mid-day.

"Famous Pete" works in the Beach Car Park Ticket Office, and may be contacted there between 0900-1100 & 1400-1700; if you arrive outside those hours, choose your own pitch, and visit him the next day.

The small main site is fairly flat, sloping gently down towards the sea; the farm fields above the beach (open in August) all have flat areas mainly next to the hedges, but if you camp on a sloping section it would be wise to park your vehicle across rather than facing downhill.

10% discount given for groups of 20 or more.  Please e-mail your requirements for larger parties.

Groups of under-18s are accepted if contact details of "a responsible adult" are provided by e-mail, and payment for the camping visit is made in advance, on arrival.

We do not take credit cards.  Cheques are ok.

Broadband Wi-Fi available on site (charge made for use by provider Dragon Wifi: first 10 minutes free, £5 for one day, £8 for 3 days (1Gb), £12 for 7 days (2Gb), £20 for two weeks).

10% discount given by Ma Simes Surf Hut (on site in August) 01437 720 433.

10% discount given for those on site by Aquaphobia Boat Trips 01437 720 471.

The facilities provided are basic: showers (two with tokens), an outdoor shower, toilets, 14 electric hook-ups, and water taps dotted about the place.

There’s plenty of room in the fields for a game of football or cricket; at the Beach Car Park you can book surf lessons and hire equipment, including windbreaks and recliners.

The “Coaster” bus travels to St David’s every half hour during the summer months (May to September); and the beach is manned by RNLI Lifeguards over the same period.

A shop, situated in the beach Car Park, is open for most of the year.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park imposes a dog ban on Whitesands Beach between 1st May and 30th September.
